| September - November 2009, AN INSTRUMENT FOR THE MEASURE OF ABSENCE (an installation) AN INSTRUMENT FOR THE MEASURE OF ABSENCE is an interactive video installation that addresses themes concurrently being explored in Temporary Distortion's
theater/cinema performance piece, Americana Kamikaze. Addressing issues of loss, isolation and loneliness, spectators willingly enclose themselves in an ominous closet-like rectangular box.
Alone in the dark, whispering voices invite the viewer to undergo the voyeuristic experience of peering through a small hole in the back wall of the box,
where they will witness various measurements of emptiness, unreality and the void. Gare St Sauveur (Lille, France) More info on An Instrument for the Measure of Absence |

| October 2009, Americana Kamikaze (US Premiere) Inspired by Japanese ghost stories, but translated through Temporary Distortion's idiosyncratic Western sensibilities, Americana Kamikaze explores the fluidity of time and space, the thin line between madness and reason, and the capacity for acts of extreme violence to transform otherwise unremarkable lives. Co-producers: Maison des Arts de Créteil (Paris), Le Manège (Maubeuge), Performance Space 122 (New York). More info on Americana Kamikaze US Premiere, October 2009 |
